HPRC Welcomes Iron Mountain

HPRC Welcomes Iron Mountain

The Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC) is pleased to welcome Iron Mountain, a global leader in innovative storage, data center infrastructure, asset lifecycle management and information management services, as the newest member.

“Iron Mountain has already been developing specific service offerings for hospitals to address waste reduction and drive a circular economy,” shares Peylina Chu, Director of HPRC. “Their deep experience in reverse logistics and as a sustainability partner with many hospitals across the country provides a valuable collaboration point across the value chain and will help us continue to develop innovative solutions for healthcare plastics recycling.”

Iron Mountain’s current sustainability initiatives include a goal to collaborate with others to create circular economy solutions while driving towards zero waste in their own operations. “Partnerships like HPRC will be critical to our success in creating additional solutions for our healthcare customers that are looking for responsible end-of-life solutions for plastics,” shares Randeep Somel, VP, Global Head of Communications and Sustainability.

HPRC is currently engaged in multiple initiatives aimed at enabling recycling of healthcare plastics, including research into advanced recycling technologies to recycle mixed streams of healthcare plastics; a survey to identify challenges and best practices in hospitals for collecting, segregating, and preparing healthcare plastic waste for transport; and guidance for engineers and manufacturers to improve the recyclability of healthcare products and packaging.
